Biography:
Venita Hervey was elected to City Council in April 2009.  She is an attorney in private practice.  Prior to joining City Council, she served on the Rockford Mass Transit District Board of Directors.

Venita is a Rockford native, born and raised in the 5th Ward, and lives in the 108-year-old family home where she grew up.

Venita received her B.S and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her J.D. from the University of Akron (Ohio) School of Law.
