
The Engineering Division provides design and construction management for capital construction projects. The Division reviews plans, issues permits for subdivisions and work within the public right-of-way, and maintains the City's infrastructure.
Our Current Capital Improvement Program:In 2007, Rockford voters approved a 5-Year Sales Tax Referendum to help fund improvements to the City’s infrastructure, which includes roads, watersheds, parkway trees, detention basins, dams, and bridges. The referendum, which added 1% Infrastructure Sales Tax on a items purchased within the city (except for groceries, medicines, and titled vehicles), was adopted as a “pay-as-you-go” method of payment replacing the pre-existing use of general obligation bond (GOB) funds...
